USEA Strategic Plan

Strategic Planning Process

The original USEA Strategic Plan was developed at USEA’s inception in 2013 and was revised in 2017. We are continuing to revise the plan in 2023–24 to better address the changing needs of the UTeach network and of STEM education overall.

The USEA Executive Board President Mariam Manuel began leading a strategic planning process at the UTeach STEM Educators Conference in 2022. Since then we have held numerous meetings engaging the Strategic Planning Task Force, the Executive Board, and membership at large.

Identity Statement

In Summer 2023, the Executive Board voted to approve a new identity statement which helps to lead USEA into our 10th anniversary and prepare for a bold new approach to service.

We advance our mission to transform STEM teaching and learning by preparing, developing, and supporting effective STEM educators and seek to recruit and retain a diverse STEM educator workforce by serving UTeach programs and alumni through sustainable services including data coordination; professional, curricular, and leadership development; collaborative resource curation; and a community of mentorship.

We emphasize our competitive advantage of a network of university-based teacher preparation programs and their alumni built on a shared philosophy of developing STEM expertise and inquiry-based practice for the common pursuit of continually improving STEM education.
